Waeey Organization for Heritage and Development

Waeey Organization is a non-governmental civil society organization that focuses most of its attention on contributing with the competent authorities and participating with local and international institutions and organizations related to the organization’s activity by paying attention to tangible and intangible cultural heritage, folklore, natural and environmental sites in order to contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development.

Waeey organization was officially Initiated at the end of 2022 by a distinguished elite with previously assumed leadership positions in many non_governmental organizations, who worked as consultants to the SF in the fields of heritage and social development, with scientific qualifications and great experience in preparing consulting engineering studies in preserving monuments and historical buildings.

Objectives:-

The awareness organization seeks to achieve the following goals:

  1. Enhancing efforts to protect and preserve the cultural and natural heritage by contributing to the inventory, documentation, protection and preservation of archaeological sites, relics, manuscripts and historical buildings left by successive civilizations on the land of Yemen for the future of future generations.
  2. Contribute to the establishment of local and international museums and exhibitions
    Developing its work plans and developing the skills and capabilities of those in charge of it to ensure that it assumes its multiple roles of teaching, educating, and entertaining, including the definition of Yemeni civilization, documentation and maintenance of archaeological holdings, and conducting scientific research on them.
  3. Spreading awareness of the importance of cultural heritage
    And the importance of preserving it among the components and members of society and promoting the Yemeni civilization as a distinct part of the global human heritage.
  4. Effective contribution to the revival of handicrafts and capacity building
    By contributing to the documentation and inventory of traditional traditional industries that are subject to extinction and documenting them, conducting research related to them, establishing centers for traditional handicrafts and promoting them, and emphasizing their uniqueness in providing local knowledge, skills and practices, which have been inherited by generations, preserved and strengthened in order to achieve livelihoods for a large number of people in particular poor and vulnerable groups.
  5. Contribute to the revival of the cultural folklore
    And to highlight its role because of its impact in various fields of economic, social and environmental development.
  6. Contribute to the protection and development of natural and environmental sites
    And to highlight its role because of its impact on achieving sustainable social and economic development.
  7. Effective contribution to achieving the goals of sustainable development, according to the available circumstances and capabilities
    To achieve these goals, the organization follows its policy by gathering expertise and highly qualified people and by creating wide-ranging partnerships at the local and global levels to support the activities and programs of the organization in a way that benefits the Yemeni folklore and heritage, and promotes the preservation and development of environmental resources.

previous works:-

Implementation of many activities in partnership with the General Authority of Antiquities in Taiz Governorate, including:

  1. An emergency rescue project – protecting the Dome of the Mutawakel from collapse, April 2023
  2. Inventorying the damage caused by torrential rains to heritage sites and buildings, documenting them and submitting them to the local authority.
  3. Holding various cultural events:

3.2. Holding an exhibition of historical photos of the city of Taiz, May 31-28, 2023

3.3. Holding a plastic arts exhibition for many Yemeni artists, including the late plastic artist Hashem Ali, May 31-28, 2023.

  1. Contribution of the members of the organization in the preparation of engineering studies for the restoration of museums and historical sites.
  2. Contribution of the leadership of the organization in preparing a form for listing and registering the silver component on the national list and submitting it to participate in the engraving file on metals submitted by all Arab countries in Baghdad during the period 11-14 February 2022
