Completion of the implementation of the rescue work for the dome of Al-Mutawakel
Within the joint cooperation between #Waeey Organization for Heritage and Development and the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums-Taiz in the field of cultural heritage preserving and protection in Taiz Governorate, Waee Organization has completed today the implementation of rescue works for the monument of ” Qubat Al-Mutawakel” located in the Old City, which was funded by the organization under the supervision of archaeologists and engineers from the Authority’s branch in Taiz. The rescue work included the following:
1- Preventing rainwater from seeping into the roots of the dome by burying the pits next to the roots and covering the walls of the dome with the material of Al-Qadhadh.
2- Closing the gaps on the walls and facades of the dome and covering them with Al-Qadhadh material.
3- Removal of trees and plants surrounding the monument.
4- Removing plants and trees above the roof of the dome and filling gaps with the Al-Qadhadh material to prevent water leaking.
5- Cover the pits inside the dome.
By doing so , the organization has contributed to mitigating the damage and risks that threaten the collapse of this historical landmark, which documents an important historical stage for the city of Taiz, and it is one of the landmarks of unique and distinct aesthetic value in the city.
