Continue visiting the sites affected by the floods

Under the slogan ” Taiz’s heritage is a shared responsibility”, Waeey organization for heritage and development, in partnership with the General Authority for Antiquities-the Taiz branch, continues today field visits to castles, buildings, and historical sites affected by the disasters of the monsoon rains. The leaders of the organization and Antiquities authority, together with the engineering team, archaeologists and media teams of many satellite channels, were briefed on the severe damage in the historic Kahirah castle and the destruction of large parts of the historical wall of Thaabat, which dates back to the era of the Rasulid state, in addition to the external buildings of the museum building

in the Al-Ardi in Taiz. The joint engineering team is working on Inventorying and documenting these damages, and then preparing technical reports upon completion of the inventorying process. It is worth noting that the damages grows bigger as long as the urgent response by the Yemeni government, the local authority, organizations and funds interested in heritage is delayed in taking preliminary measures to reduce the risks, especially since the rainy season is still in its start and the meteorologists forecasts Weather indicates climatic changes and heavy rain.

We send an urgent distress call to local and international organizations, institutions and parties who are working, supporting and interested in the heritage fields to save what remains of the damaged heritage of the historical city, Taiz before risks increase
